These socks are made with hand dyed, 100% non-superwash, merino wool. (No added nylon.)

Non-superwash merino is wool in its natural state, retaining all the tiny scales that make wool, wool.

These wool socks are favored by some for the authentic feel and the slightly superior insulating properties of non-superwash wool. 

With fewer chemicals involved, non-superwash can be seen as a more eco friendly option.

Because the wool is left in a more natural state, many people also find them to have more of wool’s natural anti-microbial (anti-stink!) properties, making frequent washing less necessary.

Some cons of non-superwash, nylon free yarn is primarily durability.  While nylon free sock yarns try to be more durable, natural fibers will never be as durable as plastic.  The scales on natural wool, that lend it character also mean that it’s prone to felting if not cared for meticulously. 

**These socks require hand washing to avoid felting and shrinkage. Lay flat to dry.
